Tasman Peninsula

Monday 31st December 2012

After yesterday's dose of history it was time to check out some of the more natural features of this area.  First stop was the Tasman Arch - photo below, you can just see us up on the top right.

A short walk from the arch was this stunning coastal view

At Eaglehawk Neck, we found the Tesselated Pavements - an unusual natural feature which made the rock look very much like it had been laid as pavers!

Also at Eaglehawk Neck is a reminder of the infamous 'Dog Line' - a row of around 18 not so friendly dogs that were there to stop convicts escaping Port Arthur.

Dootown is a location nearby where all the local buildings have been given a name beginning with 'Doo'.  Some, such as this one have had very little done to them in years and are quite ramshackle! There was a caravan set up selling irrisistable fish and chips at the Blowhole - it was called Doo Licious and we couldn't resist... even though it was only morning tea time!

To mark New Years Eve we had another campfire, the kids toasted marshmallows and we all adorned ourselves with glowsticks.  The kids made it to around 10pm, then went to bed.  Jet & Daz saw in the new year around the campfire!  Happy New Year everyone!
