Hastings Caves & Thermal Pool

Had a day out to Hastings Caves & Thermal Pool, about an hour and a half drives down the Huon Trail, past Huonville.  Very scenic drive there.
Right in the middle of the forest is the Visitor's Centre and Hot Pools, with the caves a further 5km's along the dirt road.  We had a guided tour of Newdegate Cave, a dolomite cave with some terrific stalagmites, stalagtites and other cave type features!  A number of quite open 'cathedrals' which made it quite stunning.  The tour lasted about 45 minutes and involed 500 steps up and down!

Back at the Visitors Centre we had a picnic lunch alongside this pretty stream.  We then enjoyed a dip in the hot pools... supposedly 28 degrees, but it didn't feel that warm!  It had been turned into a swimming pool in the middle of the forest.

Even Jeremy Giraffe, our travelling companion got into the act! Back at the caravan we enjoyed dinner outside taking in the wonderful view, even though it was a little chilly!
