After a morning beach walk we went to the small Bligh Museum in Adventure Bay. It relates a lot more of the history of the area, including Capt Cook's visit, also that of Bligh and the French explorer who the island was named after, Bruni D'Entrecasteaux.
One of the reasons we are loving Bruny Island, apart from its amazing natural features, is the lack of 'commercialisation' - there's no fancy visitors centre or over the top prices to see things. It's laid back, simple, and the caravan park in an amazing spot, right over the road from an amazing beach. We spent our last afternoon playing on the beach. Later in the afternoon, 3 dolphins entered the bay and frolicked around for awhile!
A change of plans for the next couple of days. We were due to go and camp in Mt Field National Park, but the camping there is closed due to recent bushfires. So we have decided to stay in a little town called 'Snug', not far from Kettering after we get off the ferry from Bruny Island, then get back to our original itinerary in Oatlands in a couple of days time.
