Day 16

Another cool night and a forecast of 25 degrees so we decided to set off for the city for a wander today - it is only 15 min drive away...before we left Jeanette met up with some people - have seen them a few times around the caravan park - I thought they looked a little familiar but had not thought too much more about it - however this morning the lady said that she also recognised me - unbelievably they were once on the same Belgrave Heights SUFM team I was on and Darrin and I know several of the same people as they do!!! It is a small world.

After finding a car park we wandered around Rundle Mall - spying some brass pigs which the kids thought were great, the Silver Balls and a street performer who had Zac rather intrigued for a while as he juggled and told bad jokes.

We headed down to Elder Park for a picnic lunch and had our lunch on the edge of a bandstand where we could see black swans, peddle boats and fountains in the centre of the Torrens River.
Some boats - named Popeye 1, 2 and 3 were sailing up and down the river so after checking out the price we decided to go for a sail - 40 min return down the river. Zac and Ethan thought this was wonderful - Gemma fell asleep after about 15 minutes - prior to that she was climbing all over everything and thinking the boat ride was a lark.

Off the boat and wandered back to find our car passing some lovely old buildings - especially the Adelaide University buildings - spectacular! A few photos and fountains later we made it back to the car and headed home. The boys did enjoy pointing out the old turreted buildings and church steeples - Ethan, however, would point it out while stating loudly - "Wow look at that sandcastle!!!" Somehow I think the architects of these buildings would be horrified to have their designs though of as sandcastles - but we thought it was funny. Early tea tonight and then off for bike rides around the park - Ethan is doing so well - yesterday he could not ride up the hill and today he managed it beautifully! So proud of him! Yet when he gets stuck turns to us and says "Oh no, I broke down" I love his one liners!!!
